Voting Question: What are your thoughts on medication errors?
I'm writing a paper on medical errors in the NICU and need to get the opinions and thoughts of others. Respond for a good cause! 1. What is your healthcare organization (or an organization you know of, what you have heard in the news, etc.) doing to reduce medical errors in the NICU? 2. What are good ideas to reducing such errors of wrong dosages, wrong medication, etc. ? 3. How common are medical errors in your healthcare setting? How big of a problem do people really think medical errors are? 4. What do you think of the medical error statistic numbers? (5% of all filled prescriptions in the US are incorrect, 1.5 million Americans harmed per yr due to medical errors) 5. What are the main causes of medical errors in your opinion? Is it more human error or computer error? 6. Heparin has been in the news a lot for causing medical errors in many NICUs. Why hasn't anything been done about this?
